Bible Verse:

The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 15:56-57

Big Ideas:

  • We are defeated by our sin.
  • Jesus fights and wins the battle against sin and death.
  • Sin and death have no power over those who are in Jesus.
  • Jesus is our victor forever.
  • Every day Jesus followers fight from victory to victory.

Bible Story:

2 Chronicles 20:1-37

When the Moabites, Ammonites, and some of the Meunites rose up against Judah, their king, Jehoshaphat went in prayer to the Lord. Jehoshaphat confessed that he and the nation of Judah were nothing without God. God fought the battle against the Moabites, Ammonites, and Meunites for Judah. God fights our battle against sin and we have victory through Jesus.

Story:

Redemption

Thankfully, God does not just leave us in the broken world, but is repairing the brokenness through His Son. From the very beginning of time, God promised He would fix creation, and He kept His promise by sending Jesus to rescue us from our sin. Jesus came to live on the earth and willingly died on the cross so that sin’s power over creation would be broken forever.
