God Is Fixing Creation

Isaiah 43:18; 1 Corinthians 8:6; Romans 8:19-22; Colossians 1:17; Hebrews 1:3; 2 Peter 3:7

Bible Verse:

And He who was seated on the throne said, ‘Behold, I am making all things new.’

Revelation 21:5a

Big Ideas:

  • Our sin has broken the good world that God created.
  • God is greater than the brokenness of creation.
  • God is fixing all of creation through Jesus.

Bible Story:

Matthew 14:22-23

Jesus revealed His power in many ways during His earthly ministry. In this story, He shows His power over creation when He walks on the water and calms the wind and the waves. Our sin has broken creation, but God is fixing it.

Thankfully, God does not just leave us in the broken world, but is repairing the brokenness through His Son. From the very beginning of time, God promised He would fix creation, and He kept His promise by sending Jesus to rescue us from our sin. Jesus came to live on the earth and willingly died on the cross so that sin’s power over creation would be broken forever.
