Big Ideas:
- Jesus is fully God.

- Jesus came to rescue us by dying in our place.
Bible Story:
Mark 4:35-41Jesus’ deity and humanity are seen in Mark’s account of Jesus calming the stormy seas. While He slept in the stern of the boat, a great storm came up casting great fear in His disciples, but He silenced the wind and sea with only His words revealing His divine nature. Jesus is fully God and fully Man.
Foundation:
God Is Son – God Gives A Rescuer
God not only exists as Father, but also as Son. Jesus is the Son of God. Through the incarnation (putting on flesh), Jesus became fully God and fully man. There has never been and never will be a man like this. Even though Jesus was fully God, He chose to empty Himself and submit to the will of God the Father. God sent His Son to be our rescuer. This is only possible through Jesus’ sacrificial death in our place on the cross. The good news is that Jesus did not stay dead, but rose from the grave defeating sin and death!
Every child should know that:
- Jesus is the Son of God
- Jesus rescued us from our sins when He died on the cross
Every child should be able to:
- Explain why we pray “in Jesus’ name”
Every child should feel:
- Awe that God loves us so much he would send His Son to rescue us
Every child should want:
- To love Jesus who is our rescuer and to learn more about him
