Jesus Followers Live for the One King
Exodus 20:3-5; Deuteronomy 6:5, 14-15
Bible Verse:
“Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered and said to the king, ‘O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. If this be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us out of your hand, O king. But if not, be it known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up.’”
Big Ideas:
- Living for the one true King means rejecting false saviors.
- When we reject false saviors, people will reject us.
- Jesus is our King when following Him is better to us than life itself.

- There is a cost to following Jesus.
Every student should strive to:
- Examine their own heart and repent of how they have followed false saviors.
- Pray regularly asking the Lord to grow their faith in Him.
- Endure through discouragement and difficult circumstances.
Every student should feel:
- Confident in the steadfastness of the Lord.
- Grateful for the cloud of witnesses that we have as a model for how to faithfully follow Christ.
- Grounded in Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith.
Every student should want:
- To devote themselves to pursuing holiness.
- To suffer well for the glory of God.
- To use their lives to point others to a better Savior, King, and Treasure.
